CHALLENGE MET
Transformed a derelict industrial site into a vibrant new cornerstone of the community
Zachau welcomed the chance to turn an abandoned industrial waterfront site into a $5.6 million contemporary condominium development that would enhance the lives of both its residents and the neighboring community. The Coal Pocket district of Bath where the development was built had lain stagnant for years. Zachau oversaw the site’s remediation to ensure that the environmental standards required for residential development were met. Riverwalk’s five buildings were then built to stretch along the river to maximize the waterfront views available in each residence. The 48,000 square foot project created 14 units adorned with bays, dormers, and columns that were orchestrated around human-scaled facades. Those details, along with the condos’ open floor plans and spacious decks, work to honor the local walkable neighborhood that this site-sensitive development is helping to revitalize.
