Crafted an enduring foundation for an elegant eatery that soars right above its riverfront home

It’s easy to miss the inside story of a restaurant finished with the type of high polish that makes The Boathouse Waterfront Hotel shine. The riverside restaurant’s waterfront deck and two vibrant bars have made it a top destination in one of Maine’s most prestigious coastal towns. Though the eatery’s interior is warm and inviting, it’s built to meet the needs of a local population that swells as summer draws near. The restaurant’s 12 boutique guest rooms can be booked for private parties in the 200-seat facility needed to host those drawn by master chef David Turin’s premium fare. But no matter how big a crowd David’s draws, Zachau’s built the bistro that can handle them all. Over a half-mile of structural pilings were carefully engineered and installed to ensure a lasting space where guests can toast every tide that rolls by.
