As one of the largest retail grocery chains in New England, Hannaford Supermarkets looks for partners who can help support the high standards that have earned them a regular place at the table in their customers’ homes. Zachau has been privileged to have completed more than 25 major occupied projects for the company. This work included construction of new stores as well as major renovations for the company’s flagship supermarkets in Scarborough and Portland. The latter projects reflect Zachau’s expertise in negotiating the challenging conditions of occupied space construction. Each project employs a range of special workflows and practices that include night work, the creation of temporary store departments, and the dust and noise containment techniques required to maintain a safe and clean environment for customers and store staff.
